The mission of The Bee Hive Assisted Living is to provide assistance with the activities of daily living in a respectful, dignified manner in a home-like setting to those in need.
The Bee Hive Assisted Living provides warm, family-like settings for residents who choose to retain their independence and dignity but do not require skilled nursing care. We provide 24 hour assisted living services by trained staff.
Each home accommodates about ten residents who enjoy a quality lifestyle in a caring family atmosphere, yet everyone still receives the utmost in privacy. From the simple assistance in everyday life to assistance with medications, laundry and meals, our homes conform to the individual needs of the resident.
Our philosophy is to emphasize the privacy, dignity and independence of our residents. We provide a caring family atmosphere, assistance with personal care, medication reminders, social enrichment and home-cooked meals.
Common Areas -- Such as living room, dining room and kitchen are always accessible to everyone. Visiting by family members is encouraged 11:00 AM — 8:00 PM.
Meals -- Breakfast is served 7:30 — 8:00 / Lunch around 12:00 / Dinner 5:30 — 6:00 PM. Due to the fact that we serve meals family-style, and we allow residents their freedom of choice, we cannot offer strict therapeutic diets, but we will make every effort to oversee restricted calorie, low-salt and low-sugar diets as ordered by someone’s physician.
Bedrooms -- Each room has a private half bath with the 18” toilet (4 inches higher than normal). Each room locks for privacy. We can provide the bed, headboard, night stand and dresser — or residents are encouraged to decorate with their own furnishings. We provide linens or use the resident’s linens; they are changed weekly (or sooner if needed). Rooms are cleaned and maintained routinely. We provide basic cable as part of the price, premium channels are paid for separately by residents. A call system is used to provide assistance to our residents. Telephone outlets are available in each room; residents order and pay for their own line.
Hallways — Note the handrails as a safety feature. We have a 24-hour alarm system on all exterior doors for the safety of residents.
Laundry Room -- Laundry is done as needed. Residents are welcomed to use the washer and dryer when not in use. An ironing board and iron are available upon request. Dry cleaning pick-up and delivery are available, but paid for by resident.
Bathing Rooms -- We have our bathing schedule posted. Note there is a Freedom tub or the walk-in shower making it easier to render assistance. There is a privacy lock if persons are independent.
Storage Rooms -- We usually keep these locked to prevent accidents with hazardous materials. There is no resident storage available.
Smoking -- We have a NO SMOKING policy at The Bee Hive; however smoking is allowed outdoors
Patios & Verandas — summer barbeques, crafts, gardening, or simply people watching.
Cars — no private parking is available. We encourage families to keep their family member’s car at their house and bring them to the Bee Hive when needed. We can accommodate a few cars in the open parking areas — please speak with the Manager to determine what is available.
Medications -- All meds are prepared by a local pharmacy. All medications are kept in bubble packs to maintain safety. Our staff are trained and certified to hand out medications in accordance with doctor’s orders — we cannot give shots.
Activity Calendar -- We have a commitment to constant improvement in higher standards of living and part of that is social interaction of our residents. We have a posted monthly Activity Calendar that includes exercise, crafts, Bingo, movies, etc. We have also entered into contracts with the County to use their Express Van for outings in the community. We encourage family participation.
Office -- All files are kept in the office. We abide by HIPAA privacy regulations that apply to assisted living homes. If residents need the care of a home health agency or physical therapy, they are invited to come in to perform their prescribed duties, for example, changing bandages, rehab, etc.
