Active Adult
Active adult housing refers to communities targeted to seniors who desire an active lifestyle. The living spaces are most usually single family detached homes on smaller lots.
Often designed for complete single-floor living, newer active adult housing now features aging-in-place conveniences such as toggle/rocker light switches, lever handles, shower stalls with seats or walk-in tubs, wide doorways, higher electrical outlets and other features. Home exteriors are planned to require little or no maintenance.
Active adult communities feature amenities such as walking trails and park spaces and a community clubhouse with resort-style amenities that may include a swimming pool, whirlpool, steam and sauna rooms, facilities for aerobics and weight training, game rooms as well as tennis, golf, shuffleboard, bocce, and more.
